Cheryl Cain Scroggins
Serving Families; Building Communities
My name is Cheryl Cain Scroggins. I was born abroad in Japan and traveled extensively as a military dependent. I have lived in Dayton long enough to call it home, and truly understand the value of having community roots. My life’s experiences led to a 34-year career with Dayton's Public Health Department (26 years in management, including 10 years in community health education working collaboratively to address barriers to good health).
I have served locally as a Precinct Representative (16-B Princeton Woods), and as a board member of the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association (Miami Valley), Cross Over Community Development Corp, Dayton African American Cultural Festival, and an Asian American Coalition. I also served on the Advisory Committee of Sinclair Community College’s Public Health Associate Degree Program, Community & Neighborhood Development Advisory Board, Latino Connection, and the Miami Valley Organizing Collaborative.
I am a graduate of the Dayton’s Neighborhood Leadership Institute and have been a delegate of the Regional Neighborhood Network Coalition, and Neighborhoods USA Conferences. I believe in continuing education and have attended Miami Jacobs Jr. Business College, Sinclair Community College, and the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
In 2019, I retired from the public health sector, but continued as an Independent Consultant doing Community Education. Since January 2020, I have worked to develop the “Fighting Against Breast Cancer Project” for Community Health Centers of Greater Dayton.
I believe in strengthening families and communities. Home ownership helps to provide economic stability. It is my pleasure to work in such an expansive industry and I look forward to serving you and your family.
